The minimum charge plus overage prescribed by City Ordinance shall be paid in full by 4 pm the 15th day of the calendar month. All City Utility accounts are due and payable on or before the first day of the calendar month, and all accounts not paid by 4 pm the 15th day of said month shall be considered delinquent with a 10% late fee added.
Should the 15th day of the month fall on Saturday, Sunday or a Holiday the amount due shall be paid in full by 4 pm on the following business day.
If the amount due is placed in the City Hall Deposit Box after the close of business on the 15th day and before the opening of business at 8 am on the next day of business it will be credited without penalty. Other payments received after 8 am on the next day of business will be considered delinquent with a 10% late fee added.
All delinquent utility accounts must be paid in full by 4 pm of the 24th day of said month. Payments made in person, online or in Deposit Box after 4 pm of the 24th day of said month shall be imposed a 25.00 Service Fee regardless if water is locked off or time has not allowed it to be locked off. An account shall be paid in full with added Late and Service fees before utility account will be cleared for use or reconnect. Water reconnects can take up to 24 hours depending on staff workload.
There will be no letter of warning that the utility service will be discontinued. Sufficient warning is given on the back of billing statement.
A disconnect letter will be mailed after Disconnection giving the customer 30 days from the Disconnect Date of the 25th to bring account current or account will be closed permanently. Collection of unpaid debts may be referred to the Credit Bureau for collection.
The Utility Deposit will not be used to clear delinquent accounts unless you no longer intend to reside on property receiving utility service. The utility deposit is designed to assist in clearing bad debts if the customer leaves town without clearing utility account.
The customer shall not remove the lock placed on the meter by the City. If a friend, neighbor, family member, etc. removes lock from the utility meter the customer is responsible. Removal of the City Water Meter Lock is a violation of the law and is addressed by other Local and State Laws.
The utility statement is mailed as a courtesy as a reminder each month.
